Our HERstory

TRAILBLAZERS THAT PAVED OUR WAY

Thank you to all the women the NYPD, both UMOS and Civilian,  who have sacrificed, persisted and opened the doors for employment and opportunity. Not only did you open the doors for us, you kept them open so that one day we could walk in your shoes a little easier.

Thanks to these women, women serve in the NYPD in every role as civilians, uniforms members, executives and within the retirement community throughout New York City.

The March 2021 issue of SPRING 3100 Celebrated Women of the NYPD.

Since this issue has been in circulation, the NYPD continues to celebrate its Uniform and Civilian members of the Department.

Thank you for all that have paved the way, all that have created change for the better and all that have made the greatest sacrifice to empower women within our department.

We highlight women who have opened doors for us throughout NYPD history. From the "Firsts" women in the NYPD to accomplish high ranked positions to women who have proven their value during times of Equity & Inclusion.  Although these honormen who came before us that enabled our carers to soar.

Helping us understand who we are and what we can accomplish in the future depends on the history of ourselves. History about the women in the NYPD helps us become informed, understand the present, learn from the past, preserve memories, and acknowledge the sacrifices made by our members to get us to present day.

To preserve this rich history of women, we want to make sure its correct. If there are any women not highlighted in his section that have been a “first” or have paved the way for change in our department, please contact us so we can add them to be acknowledged.
